Douglas George Pearson

May 29, 2011 By Haskett Funeral Homes 84 Condolences

Douglas George Pearson

It is with great sadness that we recognize a well-lived life that ended too soon. Douglas George Pearson was an amazing husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. Through his passion for sport, he inspired many as a Phys. Ed. teacher, coach, athlete and an Ontario Senior Games Gold Medalist. Doug was also a world traveller, hobby farmer, golf course groundskeeper, music lover and expert dancer. Doug’s optimism and sense of humour will be missed by his wife, Teri (Gertrude nee Donkers); daughters Bronwyn (Kevin) McConvey of Milton, Stephanie of Ottawa, and Meghan of Toronto; his grandchildren, Bryn, Afton and Camden McConvey; his mother, Edna (McWilliam); his siblings, Dan (Mary Jane) Pearson, Scott (Gail) Pearson, Steve Pearson, Joan (Barry) Hatcher, Hélène Brossard and several nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by the entire Donkers family. Doug is predeceased by his father, Alec Pearson and his brother, James Pearson. The family wishes to thank all of the friends who helped make Doug’s last few months comfortable and safe.

Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, (1 west of Main), Exeter on Tuesday evening 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Precious Blood Church, 200 Sanders Street West, Exeter on Thursday, June 2nd at 11 AM with Father Len Desjardins presiding. Interment Exeter Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the ALS Society of Ontario or the Alzheimer’s Outreach Services, McCormick Home, London.

    Dear Pearson Family,

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Peason he was my grade 5/6 teacher at Hensall Public School.

A few things that I remember about being taught by Mr. Pearson was his love of The Nylons,(which much later I could come to appreciate), our great year-end wind up of scavenger, and of course his very cool moustache!!

I moved from Hensall in grade 7 but I always did remember Mr. Pearson and the great teacher that he was. I was sorry to see that he had passed away and my thoughts are with you all.

    Kind Regards,
    Mary Taylor-Keefe

My heart goes out to you and your family as you mourn the passing of one of your biggest cheerleaders.
As an educator, your dad helped thousands of youg people grow and develop, becoming an expert on recognizing character, commitment , talent and intergrity. Having a daughter myself and knowing you as I do, I can only guess just how immensley proud your dad must have been of you and how otten he marveled about the outstanding little girl that he helped raise.

So sorry to hear about Doug. We was such an inspiration to so many. Playing volleyball with him was such a pleasure. If you didn’t love it before you loved it after. We are thinking and praying for both of you.

Doug was a great teacher, and person. I remember the day he told our class he was daddy for the 1st time. He was a proud papa, as he was with all his children. He will be missed by many. Hold on the the wonderful memories, i know i will.
