It is with great sadness the family announces Barb’s peaceful passing at South Huron Hospital, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 17, 2023, of Exeter at the age of 85. Cherished wife of Harry Dougherty for over 67 years. Proud mum of Heather Dougherty (Brian), Randy Dougherty (Kathy), and Paul Dougherty (Patty). Adored grandma of Brendan, Justin, Rochelle; Nathan, Evan, Aaron; Angela, and Corey and GG of 12 with another on the way. Fondly remembered by the Dougherty family. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Irene (Funnell) Kalbfleisch) and her best friend Liz Belling.
Barb worked at the Huron County Health Unit for over 25 years in the dental and hearing programs, mainly in the Huron County Elementary Schools. Through their 67 glorious years, Barb and Harry had many wonderful adventures together and shared many beautiful sunsets along the shores of Lake Huron.
A private family funeral service will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter.

I remember Barb very well even though the last time I saw her was apx 30 years ago! She came to Usborne Central to teach the students about oral hygiene and proper brushing techniques. She & Betty made a great team! Always cheerful and kind. The students loved her! And I always looked forward to their visits.

Mom (Betty Doherty) and her had a lot of fun during their time working at the Health Unit and going into the Schools as the Tooth Fairy’s. A lot of laughs and memories. They are now both our Angels. We were so saddened to hear of Barb‘s passing. I have so many fond memories of Barb from our hockey days, the tooth lady at the public school, and just seeing her out and about. She always had time to chat and she always brought a smile to one’s face with her great sense of humour! Our greatest sympathies to all.

I was saddened to hear of your mother’s passing I remember her fondly as she came to my classes over the years at Usbourne school to teach the children good dental care. The children always looked forward to her arrival as did I. She brightened our day with her happy disposition. I know you will have many happy memories of her also which will bring you happiness.
