Joan passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on Sunday, April 21, 2024 in her 72nd year. Cherished wife and best friend of Bill Dobbie for 47 years. Proud mom of Laura Lively, Melanie and Tom Gormley, and Lisa Dobbie and her furbaby Jasper. Doting grandma of Owen Lively, Devon, and Chase Gormley, and her fur grandbabies. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Ruth and Bruce Steedman, David and Karen Bennett, and Rick (Barb) Finkbeiner, John and Carol Anne Dobbie, Judy Dobbie and Pat Jansen, and Alice Dobbie. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Roy and Margaret Bennett, her parents-in-law, John and Dorothy Dobbie and her brother-in-law Bob.
Joan was a die-hard Toronto Blue Jays fan, and rarely missed a game on TV. She was Bill’s right hand in organizing activities for the Southern Ontario Street Rods Club and enjoyed many, many cruise nights together. Above all, she cherished her husband, loved her 3 girls and every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Keeping with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
Joan’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Ray Meredith and his late wife Marion for all of their care and support over the years and being such close friends to the family.

We wanted to reach out to let you know how sad we are to learn about Joan. The first night our families met was when everyone had lost power and gathered on the night of the “Woodstock tornado” when she was very pregnant with you, Laura! We have fond memories of how happy your Mom was when each of you girls came into the world.
You are in our thoughts and we wish you strength in your grief.

Appreciated the love and care that Bill had for Joan and all the things that they did together appreciated getting to know the family a little better as went through this with them
and made me feel like part of the family even though the dog barked at me a lot Continuing to pray for each other for Grace and strength for the day for all of us
