DEVLIN MELVIN: Alexis (Levie) of Grand Bend

March 20, 2020 By Haskett Funeral Homes 14 Condolences

DEVLIN MELVIN: Alexis (Levie) of Grand Bend

October 16, 1949 – March 7, 2020

Born in London at St Joseph’s Hospital, to parents Alice Marie and Gordon Francis Levie who met during the war and married in 1947. Lexi is survived by her most beloved husband Bob Melvin, daughter Meghan Devlin who was her everything, sister Kate Collver, life long best friend Mary Lynne Moore, and the Melvin Family whom she grew so close to. She was cherished for her loving kindness, strength, sharp wit, forthright nature and great sense of humour. Lexi was an incredible mother who’s cooking and gardening skills will be imitated but never matched. A celebration of life will be held in her garden at a later date to share stories and keep her memory alive. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan (519-227-4211).

Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

    Bob and Meghan

I am so deeply sorry for your loss.
My heart is completely broken for you both.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lexi when I worked at Shoppers Drugmart. From the first day I met her we immediately connected. I would see her weekly at the drugstore, and our friendship grew . She was such a loving, and caring person. She grew into my heart and as well as my own families.

She always told me so many stories about her precious and loving daughter Meghan.

The love that Lexi and Bob had for each other was so truly amazing.

I am so blessed to have meant Lexi and be apart of her life. She will always have a piece of my heart with her.

    My deepest condolences
    Terri-lynn, Chris, Ethan and Aidan

    Bob, Meghan and Kate,
Albeit short, we have deeply treasured our friendship and rich times spent with Lexi and Bob and are so grateful for it. Witnessing her deep love for her family (she could never say Meghan without adding “I love her so much”), receiving and often rereading her letters on Bob’s beautiful cards and walking through her beautiful gardens has brought such joy to us. She will forever be in our hearts. We send our love and prayers and hope to see you soon.

I feel so very honoured to have met and loved Lex and her wonderful family, Meg, Kate and Bob. Lex was full Auntie status to me. She has laughed with me and celebrated some of my biggest milestones. She has bonded with my children and my sister and been the confidant and friend my Mother could always turn to. She has reassured me and hugged me and fed me. She has been my family and has left an indelible mark on my spirit. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Meg, who exudes the same warmth and beautiful fun loving spirit as her Mum. I am thinking of Kate, with whom I shared many meals and lively conversations. It was obvious that you and your sister shared that same dry wit as well as a work ethic second to none! My heart goes out to our Bob, who has been such a perfect fit for Lexi that it seems he has always been there. The companionship and connectedness and pure love that he has gifted to Lex and Meg is a testament to the greatness of those women. Lex’s passing is a loss for us all. We are better for having known her. We are lucky to carry a piece of her with us. May she rest in peace

So sorry to hear of Lexi’s passing. I remember working for her at the restaurant in Lucan. She taught me many recipes which I still make for my family today. She was such a hard working lady.
It was truly a pleasure knowing Lexi.

My thoughts are with you all,

Despite living out west since 1974, I had the joy of knowing Lex before I left and through till now, as she and my sister Mary Lynne were thick as thieves. She was part of our family. What stands out for me is her caring and kindness, always there for others and her sense of humour. May All who knew and loved her be comforted to know she is only a thought or feeling away, and may that feeling eventually become gratitude for the gift of loving and being loved by her.❤️

    Dear Bob, Meg and Kate,

You know my heart is with each of you. Lexi will never be forgotten and I will cherish the wonderful memories we shared. Her warm smile, kind eyes and laughter will stay with me forever. Her love and devotion to you is a testament of the joy you brought to her life. Megs, bless you for inheriting her wicked sense of humour. She loved you more than words could express, and she was so proud of you.

    With love,

    Mary

I am so sorry to hear this sad news of Lex. Lex was a wonderful friend to my sister Mary Lynne and I have really fond memories of her when I was growing up. She was so pretty and always lots of fun and had a great sense of humour. Our family was so appreciative when Lex stepped up to the plate, to look after our dear Mother, when her long-term care giver retired and we were struggling to find a safe replacement. I spent some quality time with Lex during those times and she will always be precious to me, for taking such good care of my mother. As a fellow gardener, I admired her creative expression and her keen sense of design in her garden. She was very talented! Lex was a soft and gentle soul and may her sprit rest in heaven.
