Our beloved Mary peacefully went home into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the age of 78. Mary is lovingly remembered by her husband Jerry of 55 years; two daughters Sheryl (Conrad) Kuiper and Sandra (Bob) Northey; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. Her memory will be cherished by brother Jack (Mary) Van Soest, sister Shirley (Greg) Hammond, sister Dorothy Rozema and extended family. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Gerrit and Hendrika (Van Elswyk) Van Soest, brother John Van Soest.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed knitting and volunteering at the church and in the community. Among her most favourite things to do was ladies Bible Study. Mary loved to walk throughout Exeter, lawn bowling, volunteer at the Dove’s Nest and spend time in Florida during the winter. Sadly, dementia began to change what Mary was able to do. She was blessed to spend her final years at home under the loving care of her husband Jerry.
Mary’s memorial service will be held at the Exeter Bible Fellowship, 187 Huron Street West, EXETER on Tuesday, April 26th at 1 PM. Interment Exeter Cemetery.
Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Huron County or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
Special thanks to the staff at South Huron Hospital for their care and compassion.

I have wonderful childhood memories of Mary. I believe our hearts united when we were in first grade at that little one-room school. Mary spoke only Dutch and I spoke English, but as we held hands and walked around the school at recess we became friends. May God’s comfort give you peace in this difficult time.
