COWAN: Vivian Lorraine (Marriott) of Exeter

July 16, 2020 By Haskett Funeral Home 65 Condolences

COWAN: Vivian Lorraine (Marriott) of Exeter

Passed peacefully at Queensway Nursing Home on July 16, 2020 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late J. Donald “Zip” Cowan (2008). Dear mother of Chris and Mike Caldwell of Exeter, Janet and Jeff Corbett of Exeter, Vern and Lorraine Webster of Pembroke, Greg Webster of Elliott Lake, Curtis and Myra Webster of Hockessin, Delaware and Kim and Neil Campbell of Mt. Brydges.  Adored Grandmother to Ryan; Jordan and Gabrielle; Curtis and Angie; Shawn; Matthew and Melanie, Dwan and Brent, Callie and Karlee and 11 great-grandchildren.

Vivian lived her life in Exeter. She loved the Lord and her family. She had a wit that will always be remembered by those who knew her. She wouldn’t be seen in public without her pink lipstick and her blingy jewellery. Her sarcasm will live on is us.

The family would like to express their thanks to Viv’s extended family at Queensway Nursing Home for their exceptional love, care, and compassion.

Keeping with Vivian’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter (519-235-1220).

Donations to the Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

We met Viv while going to high school. The family lived right behind us, you just fell in love with her right away. The one thing that sticks out our minds is the day she bought an electrical appliance for herself. She wrapped it all up and put a beautiful card with it that said, ” To my Darling Wife” love Don. We laughed and laughed, and still remember. She was a grand lady and loved everyone. I know she has been gone from this immediate community for awhile now but by golly her memory will go on.

    To Vivian’s family & friends:

My mom, Irene Finkbeiner, shared a room at Queensway with Vivian a few years back – they were kindred spirits – love of family, friends, music, fashion, and laughter. They both had lost their husbands the same year- and they were both resilient women with a zest for life who cherished their memories while setting about rebuilding their lives as widows.

Loved the beautiful Vivian’s wit, those jokes with that twinkle in her eye – always enjoyed visiting her too when I came to see my mom. Told her she reminded me of the beautiful Vivian Leigh, the actor. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to get to know her and share some special times.

Your mom was a very special lady and everyone who knew her appreciated her sense of humour and her kindness. We had many wonderful times together and I especially remember the Bible studies we attended, many of them hosted in her home. She was a great support to me in my early walk and when we moved to Peterborough she wrote cards and letters of encouragement every week for the entire first year. Thank you for sharing your mom. She was a dear friend and will be greatly missed by many.
