CORRIVEAU: John of Goderich

October 4, 2023 By Haskett Funeral Homes 71 Condolences

CORRIVEAU: John of Goderich

Peacefully, at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich, with the love and adoration of his family by his side, John Wayne Corriveau, in his 71st year, passed away peacefully after his 18 month battle with cancer.

Predeceased by his parents, James Napoleon and Laurene Corriveau (nee Broughton) and survived by his four brothers, Paul (Sue), Ron(June), Doug, and Peter as well as his children, Brandon (Tara), Erin Cassone (Dan), and Missy(Devin) Robinson. He is also adored by his nine grandchildren Dylan, Jacob, Paige, Emily, Cole, Tyson, Ryan, Blake, and Marley and sorely missed by his special friend, Pat Healy.

John was adored by all who knew him. The number of family and friends who came together to live life to the fullest over the past year and a half was a testament to his warm and welcoming personality. He never turned down an invite to attend a gathering with friends, family dinner or a sporting event. Not only did he enjoy watching his grandchildren, John was also an avid supporter of minor hockey and could be found in the stands of any given game at Young Canada Week.

As a classic car enthusiast and great story teller, John rarely missed an opportunity to attend the Zurich Bean Festival and reminisce with friends, something he loved to do. Affectionately referred to by his friends as “Head” or “Headly” and Papa John by his grandchildren, he has left a legacy of memories that will survive far past this time.

Thank you to the staff at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, most notably , Kathy Duncan for taking care of our Dad. Many thanks go to Dr. Armstrong in Clinton for being available for Dad to reach out any time he needed additional support during his fight. Additional sentiments go to Dr. Welch and the Oncology Department at Victoria Hospital in London ON.

To honour Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of John’s life will be held at The McKay Centre for Seniors, 10 Nelson Street East, GODERICH on Sunday, October 15th from 1 – 4 PM.

Thank you to all who were able to come and share their memories and say their goodbyes to Dad. We know he heard your words and we know he is now at peace.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the AMGH Foundation or a charity of your choice.

    My condolences.
I knew John when I lived in Goderich and worked at CIBC. Not sure if you will remember, Brandon, Erin and Melisa, but your Dad would take you to the beach pavilion for lunch on a Saturday.( Melissa you would only have been about 4 yrs old). I would have my three boys, John, Ryan and Josh who was around four years at the time and you would play together while your Dad and I visited. He was so proud of you. My boys lost their father to cancer in 2018. Sometimes they do or say something that is like their Dad. So your Dad will live on in you and your children. Remember all the great times
