    To the Corbett Family:
Our sincere condolences to you on the passing of Charles. He’s been part of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority family since the 1950s when he became a board member. We are grateful he was a founding member of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation in 1974 and on the first Conservation Dinner Committee. Charles and Elizabeth were strong, loyal supporters of the fundraising dinner and it was always great to see them each year. Most recently, we have enjoyed working with your family to plant trees on the valley lands at the farm. This will be a wonderful legacy for generations to come.
Above all, Charles was a gentleman who did so much for his family and the community. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Dear Jane , Diane, and David.

We’re very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing . I just wanted to share this special memory with you.
Several years ago while chatting with Charlie , he told me Uncle Harold and Aunt Muriel’s farm was being torn down. I asked if he might please save a piece of barn board for me remembering all the wonderful fun we had at the big picnics. One day , he dropped by with, yes, a piece of barn board . My husband made a lovely bird house using the board. It remains the home to several families of sparrows over the years and I expect also this spring.
I hope by sharing , it brings a smile at this difficult time.

Charles Corbett (P. Eng.) one of our long-standing Members, director, and a Past-President (1999) Treasurer till (2021) of The Irish Benevolent Society) Charles was involved in many organizations and activities over a long period of time. He was a guiding light for all of us on the IBS board of directors with his knowledge of not for profits and understanding of benevolence. He was one of our longest standing treasurers in the History of IBS. He will be dearly missed by all of us.
Please keep Charles and his family in your thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
These words below were from James Hardy long time friend of Charles Corbett so eloquently spoken about Charles.

That is very sad, he was such a lively and wise man and so involved in so many community activities. There is no doubt in mind that he revived the Society when he and his fellow friends from the Lucan area joined the Society. His wise guidance as Treasurer was chiefly responsible for the strong financial position that we find ourselves in today. Most of all, he was one of the most ecumenical individuals that I have ever known, and he embodied the heritage and history on which the Society was founded.
    God Bless you Charles.
