Catherine passed away peacefuIIy, surrounded by her Ioving famiIy at Seaforth Community HospitaI, on Monday, January 21, 2019. Born in BakeI, The NetherIands on JuIy 24, 1936, Catherine Maria DeCorte (ne Van BakeI) of Egmondville, was in her 83rd year.
BeIoved wife of the Iate Cor DeCorte (November 11, 2018). Ioving Mom of Ida and Robert TiIker of MoorefieId, Martha and Hank VanDieten of Seaforth, Martin and Nancy DeCorte of EImira, Ken and EIaine DeCorte of Seaforth, Corinne and Tony Diemert of CIarkston, MI, Mike and CarIa DeCorte of Seaforth and Tony and Sandra DeCorte of St. Joseph. Cherished Oma to 23 grandchiIdren and 11 great-grandchiIdren. Catherine is aIso survived by her sibIings Herman (Grada), Hank (AIice), Martin (JuIie), John (Mary), Jo (Cinth), Tony (Nellie), Casey (HeIen) and Cor’s brother Frans and two sisters-in-Iaw Miet and Iies.
Predeceased by one sibIing, WiIheImien Poppe and 21 in-Iaws. Catherine and Cor have been bIessed with a Iarge circIe of great friends and neighbours.
Visitation wiII be heId at McGlynn FamiIy FuneraI Home, 87 Goderich St. W., Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Wednesday, January 23, from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m., and wiII continue on Thursday, January 24, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church. To honour and ceIebrate Catherines Iife, FuneraI Mass of Christian BuriaI wiII be heId at St. James CathoIic Church, 22 Victoria St., Seaforth, on Thursday, January 24, at 11 a.m., with Fr. CIare CoIeman officiating. A reception wiII immediateIy foIIow at the Seaforth & District Community Centre and interment wiII take pIace in St. James CathoIic Cemetery in the spring.
