BURNETT: Helen Irene (Nixon) of RR 2 Denfield

March 10, 2023 By Haskett Funeral Homes 74 Condolences

BURNETT: Helen Irene (Nixon) of RR 2 Denfield

Helen Irene (Nixon) Burnett Wyatt passed away peacefully with family by her side at LHSC – University Hospital on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the age of 93. Wife of the late Stan Burnett (1997) for 47 years and the late Stan Wyatt (2020) for 19 years. Devoted mother of the late Bob Burnett (2014), Shelley and Terry Bourne, and Laurie Arthur and Bill Palmer. Loving grandmother and great-grandmother of Brad Burnett, Todd and Diana Burnett (Madelyn and Grace); Kyle and Rebecca Burnett (Jessica, Tucker, Taylor, Kyler); Emma and Jordan Wright (Evan and Whitney); Tyler and Melanie Bourne (Chase, Brooklyn, Brianna and Luke); Jared and Kelly Bourne (Grayson, Cooper); Daryl Bourne and Kate Kindl (Jaxson and Makayla); Katelyn Arthur and Michael Richardson (Peyton, Logan and Emmersyn); and Justin Arthur and Abby Picyk. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Doris Mills, Rhoda and Percy Bramhill, and Ralph and Ruth Nixon. Fondly remembered by the Wyatt family and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Burton and Violet (Kew) Nixon, and her siblings and their spouses; Dorothy and Jerry Hern, Garfield and Janey Nixon, Hube Mills, Robert Nixon, Marion and Bill Thomson, Beryl and Doug Heighway, and Bruce Nixon.

Helen was proud to be the fourth of 10 children of the closely knit Nixon family. Burnett Farms was mom’s life for 65 years as well as taking a full-time position as a ophthalmology assistant in London for 15 years. Family was “everything” to mom, she was the rock of our family.

The family is truly thankful for the exceptional and caring staff of Jake’s House, formerly Prince George Retirement Residence for 6 years and also to the Mount Hope 2nd Floor – St. Marys staff for the past 3 months.

A come and go celebration of Helen’s life will be held at Bryanston Community Centre, 15321 Plover Mills Road, Ilderton (Bryanston) on Saturday, March 25th from 1 – 3 PM. A private family interment was held at Medway Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to Villages United Church would be appreciated by the family.

I am so sorry about Helen. I have fond memories. My mother (1922 – 1967). Nona was closed to Helen when I was a little boy. I remember that we were good neighborhood. We walked on a path to see Helen’s.

    Laurie and family,

I’ve had the privilege to work with Laurie for many years (and Emma). You have shared many “mom” stories, both laughs and heartaches but what was constant through it all, was being right by her side. God truly honours your unwavering faithfulness to your mom. You couldn’t have loved and supported her anymore than you did. My prayer now is for your heart to heal and the heartache to slowly be replaced by heartwarming memories.

    Sending love and hugs,
    Lorraine Torresan

So very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I have many fond childhood memories as the Burnett home was my “second home” for many years. I remember absolutely loving Helen’s homemade strawberry jam and her roast beef dinners, which I was fortunate enough to enjoy years later when the church ladies provided the meals for the Granton Firefighters Christmas parties. She was indeed a gem will truly be missed!

    Hugs to you all.

    Love Kim & Andy
