Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the age of 79. Loving husband of Mary (Vandendool) Buffinga for 57 years. Proud dad of Brian and Melaine Buffinga, and Darlene and Dave Vantyghem. Adored grandpa of Bryce and Kaitlyn Vantyghem, and Mikayla and Tyler Armstrong and great-grandpa of two bundles of joy on the way. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Helen Johnston of Clinton, Ralph and Margaret Buffinga of Clinton, Case and Ruth Buffinga of Corunna, Tony and Grace Vandendool of Ingersol, and Bert and Joan Vandendool of Kinburn. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and many good friends. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Grace Buffinga, parents-in-law Arie and Lena Vandendool, brother-in-law Larry Johnston, and sister-in-law Winnie Vandendool.
Albert was a hardworking farmer and very proud of his roots. Together he and Mary enjoyed many trips, taking in the beautiful countryside. Above all, he truly cherished the time spent with his family and friends around him.
Albert’s celebration of life will be held at the Libro Community Hall, 239 Bill Fleming Drive, CLINTON on Saturday, September 21st from 1 – 4 PM. Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside will be held at the Clinton Cemetery.
Donations to Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation, or Saint Elizabeth Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Mary, Brian, Darlene and your entire family. I will never forget Albert and Mary when they came into the accounting office to see Dave. Albert always had something funny to say to us girls at the front counter. Many laughs and many good memories. Albert was a big help to us when we were at the IPM in Mitchell when we were stuck in the mud with our camper. Albert brought us to Clinton in his truck so we could get home. What a nice man Albert was. Our sincere sympathy to you all. Albert will never be forgotten by us.

Sincere condolences to you, Mary, and your family. One of my very earliest memories as a young child is sitting with you, Mary, in the front yard of your dad’s farm, watching Albert drive up in some hot car. I think it may have been a red convertible, but I was too young to know the make. I remember his larger-than-life laugh and wonderful smile—something he never lost. I’m very sorry to hear of this loss, but what an amazing life well lived.

Sincere sympathy to Mary and all of Albert’s family. Went to elementary school with Albert and his siblings and lived around the corner from the family. Albert was always a tease but a great fellow. He will be missed by many. Hugs to everyone.
