Condolence from Ray & Judy Mills on December 19th, 2012 10:03 PM

To the Heywood families;
Please accept our deepest sympathy at your loss of a mother, grandmaother, great grandmother and friend. Beatrice was a very special Christian lady. She was one of a kind, a friend to so many. I have many memories of her over the years – living up on Huron Street near my grandparents, the Clark Fisher family, running Heywood’s Restaurant, being out and about on the streets of Exeter. We were always so very thankful that your parents ran the restaurant the year our son Brent began Kindergarten. He would get off the bus at the restaurant every other day, go inside and “work” for Beatrice. His job was to pick up the dirty dishes and take them to the kitchen! His reward was always a piece of pie and a glass of milk. I think Beatrice would even give him the pie and milk first, then he would run out of time to do his “job”! What a special time this was for our son and such a help for Ray and I for that one year. Money and gifts could never repay her for what she did for our family! She had such a good, kind heart and such a gentle way about her. Your many memories of great times together, words said, deeds done, examples shown, will help you remember what a wonderful person she was. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless.
Ray and Judy, Brent and Kurt.

I think that I only met Beatrice once, but I could tell that even if time had taken some if its toll on her lean bent frame, it was merely a testament to her having spent so much of her lifetime being a strong woman who worked hard to take care of her family. Inside that frail body, her spirit was standing just as tall, proud and upright as ever! At least that’s what I thought the bright sparkle in her eye implied to me. My thoughts go out to the Heywood family and to all who were blessed to have known her.
