On Friday, September 16, 2016 at Exeter Villa, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Ola (Johns) Batten (2008). Dear father of Sharon and Dave Passmore, Helen and Ken Kadey, Ralph Batten and Denise Troyer. Dear grandfather of Tom and Sue, Jon and Chelsey; Zachary; Jason and Stacey, Jeremy and Melissa, Tanya and Kenny; and great-grandfather of Brock, Bria, Taylor, Avalon, Finlay, Payton and Hailey. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Kathryn Penhale of Exeter and Jock Andrew of Kitchener. Predeceased by a brother William Batten and a sister Joan Andrew.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, one west of Main, Exeter on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM where the funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19th at 11AM with Pastor Michael Coulter officiating. Interment Zion Cemetery.
Donations to South Huron Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

I was saddened to hear the news of your father’s passing.. I will miss my visits with John and the talks we had.. He was a man of few words, and yet his smile and laughs were all one needed to hear.. Remember what a Great man he was and all the joy he brought into all your lives…. My deepest sympathies..

So sorry for your loss. John spent countless hours at the lawn bowling club tending to the grass for so many years. He was a pleasure to know. Never saying too much but we knew how much he enjoyed the sport. We will remember him for the wonderful salmon loaf and homemade pies he brought for our potlucks. What a talent he had!! He leaves behind many enjoyable memories of years gone past. Take care.
