We are both saddened to hear of Alice’s passing.
What a sharp lady she was! She was always interested in asking about what we were doing since leaving Lucan and about our family. I especially treasure my last visit with her last summer. She was just so “Alice”.
A treasure to be sure is now sitting with our Heavenly Father.

Panama City Beach, FL. & Manituoulin Island, On.

Dear Karen, Jane and Heather and families

We were saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing. We will long remember the night we met Mom at Karen’s birthday party. A somewhat nervous but courteous handshake when we first met but a fond, warm embrace at the end of the evening. We talked and laughed and giggled a lot that night.

She has now joined our mom’s in Heaven.

I used to call her Sweet Alice, and she would respond “I don’t know about that, but I like you calling me Sweet Alice.” She was a friend who made me smile, and who inspired me as a mother. She was so proud of her daughters.

The violets in her front window, our conversations over tea and cookies and her genuine smile are memories of Alice that I will treasure.

    God Bless.

It is good that Alice is no longer suffering but I know that is little consolation to you in grief.

She brought sunshine and delight each time when I visited with her at The Queensway and at Craigwiel – including that last time when her chatter never ceased and was filled with reality and humour.

I am in Toronto until late tomorrow so I cannot share in the celebration of such a woderful woman or support Pat in her saddness.

Although I cannot be with you my prayers and blessings are.

May God Bless you and Keep you all.

    Kathy

    Hello
My sympathies go out to you on the passing of Alice. I only knew Alice from church on Sunday mornings, so I haven’t seen her in sometime. I always enjoyed her pleasant greetings and warm smile.

May God be with you and comfort you as you mourn her loss. We have lost her but it is a comfort to know she is in the arms of the Lord and has found great joy in paradise.

We are sorry that we never did get to show her our pictures of NZ and AUSTRALIA which see so much wanted to see. Always a learner and listener with a good sense of humour and wit. We will miss Alice at Community Bible Church. We will meet again and hopefully share our NZ stories and other yarne in eternity. Farewell Alice and rest in peace. My Sincere Sympathy,
My thoughts are with your Family.
    Alice was Alice.
Our Families go back a long time.
When we went to visit her, Alice would say to my Wife
your are not paying attention, Look at me.
Then after while she would say to Jean
I want to talk to (Harry) Then she would say
well we had a good arguement, please come again.
Being strict and from the old school. I used to tease
her about (grammer) dangling participles etc.
just to get her going. Alice would say how do you
expect me to know all the stuff.
I didn’t know either but I never let her know.
AS long as you know it was Alice, you could expect
    anything.
    We will miss her.
    Harry Hardy

What an honour it was to provide assistance to Alice & also become her friend here at Queensway. Her zest for life was amazing and she always found the silver lining. Alice loved to be our green thumb gal and would comment when others were interferring.

Jane,Karen,Heather and families. I wish to offer Bernice Maslen’s condolences. Mom always talked about Alice and how she used to go around and try to get those nasty butterflies that lay there eggs on her plants to eat. Alice was a good neighbor to Mom especially when dad died, she would stop by to see mom on her bike and have a little chat. She will be missed by my mother. You have my mother’s deepest sympathies.

So very sorry to of your Mom’s passing. I have fond memories of sending time at your home on Butler St. riding the ponies! I remember jumping on the trampoline in the garage in the winter time! My deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. I loved when she came into the library and asked for help on the computer. She always thought she was being such a bother, but I looked forward to the times when she came in as she always had such wonderful stories (and cookies too!) to share. She was truly a wonderful lady and will be missed.

  30. Anne & Francisco Vidal & family

    January 18, 2011 at 8:35 PM

Our sincerest and deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mom Alice. There are so many great memories about Alice, how she always wanted to catch up on the news of our family and if the weather or some disaster happened overseas in the Philippines, she’d want to know how close it was to Francisco’s home town. She’d pull out the world map and get us to show her where the news was occurring. And all those years, being at your place was more than a second home sometimes…and how she took such an interest in my boys growing up. Alice let them experience all the great things we did, the ponies, the treehouse, the trampoline, the cookies for treats. She will surely be missed by all of our family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and may these memories bring you some comfort in your time of sorrow.
    Love & prayers

Dear Jane, Heather, Karen and family,

Our deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. Aunt Alice will be missed – she always seemed to have an eternal youthfulness about her. It wasn’t that long ago I remember she was riding her bike in Lucan and enjoying a Perrier I had been able to send her way. I suppose she might be doing that again now…and forever.

    Love and prayers always,

We are so sorry to hear about Alice passing – she seemed to be timeless. We have fond memories of her, particularly from when our children were younger. Mark and Alex spent a fair amount of time under foot at her house, and after several marathon pie-making sessions at the Scout Hall she became a legend to Laura. After seeing Alice at the Library learning to email and use the internet, I used her as an example to get my father (15 years her junior) to get with the program! You were fortunate to have your mother for so long – hold your memories and each other close.

  42. Susan (Hodgson) Stock

I remember Aunt Alice with love and good memories … I remember being at the farmhouse when we were little, Jane… One time I rode a pony there; I think her name was Cindy? She wanted to go back to the barn & I didn’t ~ she won and I got a scraped up leg from barbed wire … I remember how Aunt Alice helped to sooth and calm a frightened little girl… I know she will be missed! I’m glad she’s happy now with Jesus! Love, Susan

    Heather and family,

My deepest condolences to you on the loss of your mom.She was a wonderful lady. She always came in to the store to ” check up ” on the african violets that she gave to Rashida.
She would say she was so disappointed in them if they didn’t flower…she would take that one home to nurse and bring us back a flowering one.
We used to laugh and tell her that we didn’t ” talk ” to them enough!
She was a great lady and she will be missed by everyone who had the honour of knowing her.
