At LHSC-University Hospital, London on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 of Zurich in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Mary Ruth (Meikle) Smith for 57 years. Dear father of Carol and Bill Deichert of Zurich, John and Brenda Smith of Zurich, and Lynda and Joel Turner of Dashwood. Dear grandfather of Lacey and Bill Loghrin, Mindy Deichert, Ethan Deichert; Brittany and Alex Goes, Thomas Smith; Jim Turner, Mykayla Turner, Melody Turner; and great-grandfather of Hannah and Sarah Loghrin. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Alex and Audrey Meikle of Lucknow, and Carlyle and Penny Meikle of Seaforth. Also missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Della Gingerich, brothers-in-law Clare Melick, and Amos Gingerich, and sister-in-law Norma Meikle.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 49 Goshen Street North, Zurich on Friday evening 6-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Zurich Mennonite Church, 37818 Zurich-Hensall Road, Zurich on Saturday, July 16th at 11 AM with Pastor Ryan Jantzi officiating. Interment Bluewater-Bronson Line Cemetery, Zurich, just down the road from where Allan spent his entire life.
