RESTEMAYER: Glen of Dashwood

February 10, 2024 By Haskett Funeral Homes 135 Condolences

RESTEMAYER: Glen of Dashwood

Glen passed away unexpectedly at home on the farm on Saturday, February 10, 2024 of Dashwood at the age of 73. Loving husband of Peggy (Vanstone) Restemayer for over 52 years. Proud father of Tammy and Rob Regier of Zurich, Julie Grimminck of Centralia, and Michael and Leanne Restemayer of Dashwood. Adored grandpa of Brianne and Harlen; Gracie (Ben), Penny (Oliver) and Makayla (Ashton); Dakota and Miley. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Ruth and Whitey Denomme of Port Glasgow, and Bernice and Bob Boogemans of Exeter. Fondly remembered by the Vanstone family and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Greta (Dietrich) Restemayer.

Glen was born and raised on the home farm where he has lived his whole life. He was proud of taking care of the land, working tirelessly along with his sidekick Dakota teaching him the “Papa way”. He could be found striking up a conversation with someone anywhere he went. Glen’s quick wit, sense of humour and sometimes questionable advice will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Tuesday, February 13th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM.

Glen’s funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 148 Frederick Street, DASHWOOD on Wednesday, February 14th at 11 AM with Pastor John Trembulak III officiating. Interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Dashwood.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

A remarkable man is gone now
And this world seems a little lessened somehow
Because he is not a part of it.
A little less wise and great,
A little less good and brave.
May it help to know that he will never be forgotten
By those whose lives he touched
And may your own cherished memories always bring you comfort.

The shock of any traumatic event always brings a flood of thoughts and memories of life long events to bear…
And so it is today, that as long as we can in our lives’ memories, remember Glen and how he was a part of our everyday’s routine and life on
    “the 14th”, aka Blackbush Line.
The “neighborhood watch” gave everyone on “the 14th” a sense of security but it was always out of love and concern that he had for his family, friends and neighbours. Always having time and a thirst for a good talk and many laughs at someone else’s expense, (except at haying time), a glass of cherry whiskey or screech.
We will surely miss this bear of a man and will remain on our hearts forever.
RIP Glen. We’ll see one another again some day.
