I am so sorry to hear of Patti’s passing! I was lucky to have been hired by her at the Ritz Lutheran Villa. She and her boys also rescued a beautiful black lab I had been involved with rescuing. Her aunt and my aunt were best friends. She was amazing smart caring person and the world has lost a wonderful woman

To the McAllister and Down families.

Our thoughts and prayers are extended to you at this time.
Our first association with this incredible young lady was through figure skating and the Down farm, many years ago. Even then, her amazing personality was evident, and never diminished, in spite of life’s challenges. She will be missed by many.
Thank you Patti, for a life well lived. It was our pleasure to have known you.

I’m so sad that Patti is no longer with us. She was an awesome friend! She seemed to “get me” in a way that no one else did. I shall miss her dearly… especially Academy Awards Night when we watched the Oscars together via Facebook Messenger. Her tv was always just a bit ahead of mine but she kept quiet till I’d heard the announcement too! What a sweetheart! I’m also so sorry that I’ve been sick for a month with various viruses and was unable to attend anything , from visitation, celebration of life or an “at home visit!” Please know that I have been and continue to think and pray for your family during this time and send hugs your way.

Patti was a kind, cheerful neighbour of ours here in Mitchell. Many times my daughter Julie walked across the street on Sundays and rode with Patti to Windsor for another week at the university. Patti led the Community Outreach program and I recall our Mitchell Optimist Club partnering with Outreach to host our first Home Tour. Such a beautiful personality, amazing smile and caring spirit. So very sorry to learn of Patti’s passing. Our thoughts to all Patti’s family.

She is so greatly admired, and left her mark on this world through her family and through her dedication to her community. Hearts go out to you all.

Our sincere condolences to the McAllister and Down families. Patti was a generous and hard working person who will be surely missed. Her work on the Jessica’s House project was sincerely appreciated. She was a proud member of our agricultural community, too. I have known Patti since she was a young girl and she was always true to who she was, a good example for others for sure. You couldn’t speak to Patti for more than a few minutes before her pride and joy for her husband, boys and her sisters, and Mom and Dad bubbled up. Thinking of you all.

Hold her close but let her go . Patti was one of the most positive people i know and always looked at life with the glass half full. I hadn’t seen Patti for years and saw her at a wedding we both attended, she hadn’t changed and she remained the optimistic person I knew. Her laugh is infectious and her smile contagious. Much love to all as you celebrate a life well lived.

I had the privilege and pleasure of being a colleague of Patti’s while she taught in the classroom next door to mine. In the truest and most sincere way, she was my neighbour…sharing ideas, lessons, stories, for a number of years. We also shared a love of several of the same music styles. I will never forget when she taught me the “Cha Cha Cha” “add-on” when she sang Happy Birthday to her students…I had never heard it before. I feel blessed to have crossed paths with Patti. I will never forget her spirit, energy, and desire to pass on all she could to her students. Her legacy is intact within all of those fortunate enough to have had Patti touch their lives.

Patti was my Kindergarten teach at Huron Centennial Public School over 20 years ago, she was a kind and amazing woman. My mom and I had talked about the memories we had of her and the stories I would come home and tell my mom and dad as a young child. One day on a nature walk through the trails behind thee school a snake slithered across our path and she picked it up and gave a quick lesson about the slithery creature. I have many art projects that still appear every year from her class, like the clay snowman snow globe I made for Christmas in 2005. Every year when we put it out as a Christmas decoration we think of my amazing kindergarten teacher!

    John, Matt, Brett and family

My condolences on the loss of a wonderful wife, Mom, sister …
I cried tonight on my way home from work hearing about Patti’s passing. It breaks my heart that she has lost such a well fought battle with Cancer. It seemed that nothing would keep her down long and she’d be ready to face the next battle.
She gave it her all and then more.
I regret not visiting her more often but felt she had closer friends to help her along the way. She was constantly on my mind.
I so enjoyed working with her at the Ritz Villa. She had this beautiful smile and a laugh that would wash all the blues away. Once she became a teacher, we lost touch.
We reconnected by chance shortly after her cancer was diagnosed.
Patti will leave a void but she also leaves us all with hope and a vision for cure. We will carry her torch forward, never letting the flame burn out.
I’m thankful to have known her and once again my life is that much better because she was a part of it.
The love she had for her family will get you through these difficult days. Hugs to you all.

We were sad to hear of Patti s passing.
Like her Mom she fought a long hard battle! Patti had a smile and a kind word for us when we saw her…liked to talk about the younger years…the good old days.
It has been a pleasure to watch her from early childhood to the fine young woman she was.
For the family…you no longer see her agonizing times which she suffered, so miss her…yes you will, but remember all the good times and perhaps that will bring some comfort to you.
    RIP Patti. Hugs.

    John, Matt, Brett, and families;

We are thinking of all of you with heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time. Patti was a very special lady who left behind many memories and had that smile that lit up a room. She was such a strong soldier. May she rest in peace.

    “God’s Garden” by Melissa Shreve

God looked around his garden and found an empty place
He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest
With the help of his angels they flew you to your heavenly place

Gods garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best
He knew you were suffering, he knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never get well on Earth again

He saw the road was getting rough and the hills too hard to climb
He closed your weary eyelids and whispered “Peace be Thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you the day God called you home.

Condolences to the families. How sad we were to hear the news of Patti. We have so many fond memories of the down family when we lived in Exeter. Our children were just a little younger than the Down children but they shared so many happy times with them. There were the times at the farm, the beach at Grand Bend, the classes in Sunday School at Exeter United to name just a few.
We are so sorry for your loss.
    Our love to you all.
Pat and Glen Wright, along with Miriam, Lisa and Steven.
