To all my ‘Seaforth Cousins’, Kim, Doug, Joey, Cindy, Judy and Ray Jr., so sorry for the loss of your Dad. He was a ‘stellar’ Uncle too, who shared stories and teased us as little ones, and kept us on our toes while we leaned to play solo and euchre. I have fond memories of your visits to Walkerton where we played in the creek and he kept us busy fishing for minnows or chub. In later years he was a good companion to my Mom when they lost their partners. His house was always open and when she was lonely he lifted her spirits with a laugh. often taking trips to see relatives in Windsor and Guelph. Sorry to have missed this opportunity to pay my respects in person.

Doug, Nancy, and the Anstett family: I am so very sorry to read of the passing of your dad. Although my family has been gone from Seaforth for many years, Ray is someone that I recall with fondness. As a child I would often venture into his store for a gift for my family members and friends. I recall one year not having much money, but I had seen something special I wanted to buy to help cheer up my mom during a very difficult time. I told Ray why I was there, and Ray asked how much money I could spend and what I was looking for. I showed him what I wanted. Ray told me that, “Today only, that item is on sale. How lucky you came in today.” My mom loved her gift, and her smile made me feel better. I have often thought back on the kindness Ray showed me that day. Whether I saw him at the arena or in his store, Ray always had a smile on his face. May your wonderful memories make the pain of your loss a little easier.

Ray was a great neighbour to my Mom and Dad when they lived on Coleman St. And many is the times we all bought various jewelry from him. Got rings fixed, etc. Always had a smile it seemed. He will be missed. My sympathies to the family. Ray was a great guy.
