HOGGARTH: William Alexander “Al” of RR 2 Kippen

November 30, 2018 By Haskett Funeral Homes 25 Condolences

HOGGARTH: William Alexander “Al” of RR 2 Kippen

Peacefully at South Huron Hospital, Exeter with his daughter by his side, on November 29, 2018, in his 85th year. Born in Seaforth, Al lived his entire life at his beloved farm in Tuckersmith Township, RR 2 Kippen. He was active right up to his last days, chopping wood and plowing the fields on the land that meant so much to him. Cherished husband of Millie (Pringle) Hoggarth for 27 years. Dear father of Greg and Judy Hoggarth of Mississauga, Paul and Annette Hoggarth of Goderich, and Janet Hoggarth and Gil McLeod of Zurich. Grandfather of Grayson, Emily, Lucas, and Cameron Hoggarth; Samantha and Matthew Brand, Tavish, and Lachlan McLeod. Al will be missed by all of Millie’s children and grandchildren, his cousin Janice Schultz and her husband Grant, his life long friend Bob Kinsman, and all of his fantastic neighbours who always had his back. Predeceased by his parents Archie and Ruby (Ingram) Hoggarth, and the mother of his children, Margaret (Ashard) Hoggarth (1993). Al was known for enjoying a game of shuffleboard or sitting around the table playing a game of euchre. Many people would recognize Al by his tell-tale yellow hard hat that he wore faithfully. The family wishes to express their thanks, for the level of care received from all members of the health care teams.

Family and friends are invited to Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, EXETER on Monday afternoon from 2-4 PM for a celebration of Al’s life. Please feel free to come and go as you please and dress casual. Words of remembrance will take place at 3:30 PM, followed by interment at Hensall Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to South Huron Hospital Foundation or Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

    Dear Millie,
I know I am late to see the notice of Al’s passing. I am sure that this condolence will be one of many telling you what a wonderful, gentle man Al was. He drove my parents, Doug and Pat Cook, and Hermie their caregiver, many places. He was kind and thoughtful and did things above any kind of expectation. He saw to it that vehicles were safe and that the people in them were too. He taught Hermie about farming and took my dad out to see fields being harvested. Those days with Al gave my dad’s spirits such a lift. Thank-you for making it possible for him to share his time with my family. He gave them great comfort.
When I think of Ala smile goes onto my face.
    Sincerely
    Jennifer (Cook) Carter

We only knew Al through our shuffleboard games. We met him about 8 years ago and had many conversations with him over the years and got to know him a bit. He talked a lot about his family and his farm. He had gone through a number of health issues lately but always bounced back and that is why we were so surprised by his sudden death. He often shared his vegetable s from the garden with us which were much appreciated. We met Millie when he invited us to the farm to get some rhubarb. We have lots in the freezer now and will think most fondly of him when we see it. We intended to come to the Funeral today but got mixed up on the location and drove back and forth between Zurich and Hensall. We are so disappointed as we had hoped to meet his family to tell them of our high regard for him. Out thoughts are with you at this sad time.
